Graduated from Andhra Medical College, Visakhapatnam in the year 1982 and pursued post-graduate course in MD Microbiology in the same college. Received MD Microbiology degree in the year 1988 and joined Govt. Service as Asst. Professor in Microbiology at Andhra Medical College in the same year. She was promoted to Associate Professor in the year 1997 and worked at Rangaraya Medical College & Andhra Medical College. She was promoted as Professor of Microbiology at Andhra Medical College and took over charge as HOD in the year 2006. She guided several MD students in Microbiology during her tenure and has published in several National and International Journals. She was also member of various Board of studies of Dr. NTRUHS and Secretary of Institutional Ethics committee of Andhra Medical College for 13 years. She also has a PG Diploma in YOGA and Consciousness.
She also held the post of Secretary of Indian Association of Medical Microbiologists (IAMM), AP Chapter from 2006- 2009. She was the Organizing Secretary of XVI IAMM State Chapter in the year 2013 and President of IAMM State Chapter 2013 - 2014. She was awarded Best Service Award by the District Collector, Visakhapatnam. She also has undergone an advanced course in Medical Education.
After retiring from Govt. Service in the year 2014, she rendered services at GEMS, Srikakulam as Professor of Microbiology, Vice-Principal and was Principal, GEMS, Srikakulam from 2015 to 2018. She was Organising Secretary of Andhra Medicos Annual Research Assembly (AMARA) for two consecutive years at GEMS, Srikakulam. She joined GIMSR as Professor of Microbiology in January 2019 and at present is the Principal of GIMSR.
Dr. Dwarakanath was graduated from Guntur Medical College in the year 1978. He subsequently pursued his Post Graduation in General Surgery from the same college and obtained Masters Degree (M.S) in the year 1983. Dr Dwarakanath was selected for Govt. Service in the same year and joined as Assistant Professor in the Dept. of General Surgery, Andhra Medical College, Visakhapatnam. He also pursued Post Graduation Degree in Paediatric Surgery from Andhra Medical College and obtained Masters Degree (M.Ch) in the year 1994. He was promoted as Professor of General Surgery in the year 2000 and took over as the Head of the Department of General Surgery in AMC from 2009 till 2012. Subsequently, he became the Dy. Superintendent of King George Hospital, Visakhapatnam and worked for 3 years. Later he worked as Medical Superintendent of KGH till he retired from Govt. Service in October 2012.
Dr. Dwarakanath has vast experience in performing advanced Laparoscopic procedures like Paediatric Urology, Thoracoscopic procedures & Decortications, Thyroid Disorders, Benign & Malignant Breast Diseases, Varicose Veins etc. apart from routine surgical procedures in adults as well as in neonates and children.
During his tenure in Govt. Service, he published several articles in National and International Journals. He trained several students for M.S (Genl. Surgery). He was the Chairman, Ethics Committee for 3 yrs, Chairman, Disciplinary Committee for 5 yrs. He is a Life Time Member for Association of Surgeons of India (ASI), Indian Association of Paediatric Surgeons of India (IAPS), Paediatric Endoscopic Surgeons of India (PESI-Founder Member), Indian Medical Association (IMA) and Association of Minimal Access Surgeons of India (AMASI).
Post retirement, Dr. Dwarakanath took over as HOD of General Surgery & Medical Superintendent of NRI Medical College, Sangivalasa and worked for 3 yrs. He then took over as Prof. & HOD of General Surgery in GITAM Institute of Medical Sciences & Research (GIMSR) in Feb 2016 and continues working with GIMSR till date.
